Rachael FisherPersonal Trainer & Nutritionist
I’m Rachael (but you can call me Rach)! I’m a personal trainer and nutritionist, and founded Ivy Training in 2020. As you’d expect, I am incredibly passionate about all things strength training and nutrition.
I would love for resistance training to become more mainstream, especially amongst the female population. I believe that a balanced, well-structured diet teamed with strength training and conditioning is optimal in producing improvements in body composition and long-term health. I have seen these improvements in myself, and with clients too.
I first started training with the goal of losing a few pounds – I was a tad on the chubby side, but knew near nothing about nutrition or training. I was too scared and embarrassed to train around the opposite sex, so I joined a popular female-only gym and filled my days with endless amounts of cardio and body pump classes. Needless to say, I didn’t see the results I was after, and I also didn’t enjoy training. My then boyfriend (now husband), somehow convinced me to join a new gym and get into strength training (you know, with an actual barbell rather than pink 2kg dumbbells) and never looked back.
I’ve found that strength training allows me to set specific targets and numbers in training, as opposed to aimlessly exercising to only burn calories. Over the years, I’ve dropped 15kg of body fat – but more importantly, continually get stronger and improve my body composition simultaneously. My mindset has completely shifted, and I absolutely love the feeling of being strong and healthy.
As you can imagine, I spend a lot of time in the studio – both professionally and recreationally. In my spare time I like to hang out with family and friends (including my two gorgeous French Bulldogs), catch up on social media or have a nap! I am also currently pregnant, and will be taking maternity leave in 2024.
